Ronald Edward Egleston (“Eagle”) age 78 of Holt, MO passed away at his home in Holt on Saturday morning, March 9, 2024. Ron was born on January 27, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA. He was the son of Nathaniel Justin and Lola Lee (Morris) Egleston. Ron was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Doris Eikenbary and to this union, Shanon and Scott were born. Later, he married Jule Lawhead, and he became the father of Jon. On June 15th, 1991, He married Judy (Fox) Rogers at the First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MO. He worked in shipping and receiving for National Starch and Chemical for 36 years in Kansas City. Ron loved the Statler Brothers and Roger Whittaker. He also loved horses and history, particularly Native American history. He was a patriot through and through. Ron and Judy traveled to all 50 states, the Holy Land and Egypt. Ron loved making people laugh and telling jokes; he was ornery. He was a kid at heart. Ron was a man of great faith; he loved his Lord and wrote poetry about his relationship with his Lord. Ron and Judy were Members of Northern Hills Baptist Church for 17 years and then Lathrop First Baptist Church for the past 15 years. Ron will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Natalee Egleston. He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; children, Shanon Edge of Blue Springs MO, Scott Egleston and Brietta of Grain Valley, MO, David Rogers and Lauren of Union Star, MO, and Jon Egleston of Monett MO; grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Connor and Julia Edge, Aubrey Patton, Taylor Egleston, Harlie, Harper and Hagen Rogers; great-grandchildren, Daemond, Benjamin Edward, May Lorraine, James and Delaney Edge; Ron leave behind many lifelong friends, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Lathrop Building Fund in care of the funeral home. Military Honors will begin at 5:30 PM, Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lathrop. Followed by a visitation at 6 pm and funeral service at 7 PM, all at the church. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 PM, Monday, March 18th, 2024, at the Ord City Cemetery in Ord, NE.
